In a remarkable feat of digital transformation, Thielco Steel Solutions Group, the European leader in grate production and anti-corrosion treatments, has successfully migrated to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition within an ambitious 13-week timeline. This swift and efficient transition was facilitated by Ctac, a United VARs member in the Netherlands, and longstanding partner of Thielco, enhancing operational efficiency and setting a new benchmark in the industry.
Thielco, a family-owned company known for its rapid production and delivery capabilities, faced increasing limitations with its previous ERP system, SAP ECC. "Our growth was being stunted by the separate software systems for HR, time registration, machine maintenance, and invoice processing, which prevented integration and increased labor intensity," explained COO Mario Noijen.
The move to SAP S/4HANA was strategically planned to coincide with Thielco's annual production break, thus minimizing disruption to its operations. "Our strength lies in our speed and ability to deliver promptly. We could not afford to pause our operations; the migration had to be fast and seamless," stated Juliëtte Heldens, Managing Director of Thielco.
The implementation brought immediate benefits, streamlining processes and significantly reducing administrative overhead. By leveraging SAP's best practices, Thielco clarified 80% of its main processes swiftly, a testament to the robust planning and execution by the team of 15 key users who worked diligently to ensure a smooth transition.
Thielco has noted substantial improvements in inventory management and sales margins thanks to the new system. "With SAP S/4HANA, we can now automatically activate all processes in the production chain from quote to invoice, eliminating unnecessary efforts and focusing more on output rather than administrative tasks," Heldens added.
The full adoption of SAP S/4HANA by Thielco’s staff further underscores the success of the implementation. "The feedback from our employees about the advantages over the old system has been overwhelmingly positive, confirming the effectiveness of the new ERP system," said Noijen.
Looking ahead, Thielco is ambitious about its future. "The successful implementation is just the beginning. Our goal is to transition towards a fully digital factory, reducing paper use and enhancing real-time data access across the board," Noijen shared.
